Tool 06 / PING

Ping

Real ICMP ping from probes around the world — latency, packet loss and resolved IP.

Enter a hostname or IP and pick where to ping it from. Each run uses a few probes from Globalping's network.

About this tool

Ping sends ICMP echo requests and times the replies. This tool runs a real ping from volunteer and datacenter probes on the Globalping network — not from your browser, which can't send ICMP — so you can see how a host looks from different parts of the world.

Latency is the round-trip time in milliseconds. Distance sets the floor — about 1 ms of round-trip per 100 km of fiber, plus routing detours. A big gap between min and max points to jitter or congestion. Packet loss above 0% on several probes usually means a problem near the target; loss on just one probe is more likely that probe's own network.

100% loss doesn't always mean down — many firewalls and cloud providers drop ICMP on purpose. If ping fails but the site loads, use the Down Checker to test HTTP instead.

Lookups go straight from your browser to Globalping, which allows about 250 probe-tests per hour per IP address. Each run here uses 1–5 probes depending on the location.
